IRC Chat (is basically dead, don't even bother reading this page)
Well, basically, this page is about the Black Council IRC channel on irc.xelium.net, and how to join it. If you don't know
what IRC is, it's basically a chat-type thing, where you communicate with other people over the internet. (That kinda
sounded stupid)
Ok, well first of all, you'll need an IRC client. It dosen't matter which one you use, but I prefer
mIRC.
After you finish downloading it, start up mIRC. After seeing a picture of some guy (who created mIRC, I guess) and pressing "continue",
there will be a window that pops up, asking for a nickname and etc. Fill it out, and for the IRC server, choose irc.xelium.net. If it's not on the dropdown list
(It probably is, but if it isn't) add it, by clicking "add". Fill the stuff in so that it looks something like this:

After adding it, click "Connect to Server", and wait for it to connect. If it can't connect for some reason, you're probably
connecting to the wrong port (make sure it's 6667). After connecting, there will be a status window, and words will start flying out. Ignore it. In the message box
(where you type), type /join #council (where #council is the channel you're joining). And there you are. Also, if you have IRC open
and you don't want to type in all that stuff, just click
here to connect. (It doesn't work on some browsers)
If you're too lazy to download IRC, you can just go
here. Put in your nickname,
and connect. You'll be on a channel called #xelium (You can exit that channel if you want).
To join #council, just type "/join #council" (without the quotes, of course).
Basic mIRC commands
These are some commands you can use when you're chatting on IRC.
/me action - Typing this will show the text as "* Nickname action" in purple text, instead of just text.
/join #channel - Typing this will allow you to join a certain channel, where "#channel" is the channel you want to join. Remember that all channels must begin with a hash symbol (#).
/part #channel Reason - Typing this will let you exit a certain channel, followed by a message.
/quit REASON - Typing this will disconnect you from the server. It will show up as * Nickname has quit IRC (Quit: REASON).
/nick nickname - Typing this will change your nickname to whatever you typed after it.
/ns register PASSWORD EMAIL - This will register your nickname, so that others can't use your nickname.
/ns identify PASSWORD - Use this to verify that you are actually the person that registered the nickname, and not some impostor.
If this sounds really complicated, you don't really need to remember all of it, just the connecting part. And oh yeah,
you can keep it open while playing MapleStory, so you don't really need to close it. Also, join #maplestory if you want
to connect to Sleepywood.net's IRC channel.
